Week 29, Project 365

I am feeling pretty tired today so I'll be keeping this week's Project 365 post short (yes, I really CAN make it short).

I posted about this photo already but I'm including it again... because it is the one and only Monday photo! Besides, I'm pretty sure I have some traffic on Sundays I don't get the rest of the week. Anyway, for those who haven't seen it yet, those aren't clouds, that's smoke. We've had a problem with wild fires in the area because it's been so dry. Has made breathing a bit of a challenge at times. I've mentioned my husband's new friend who has designed and built a few planes over the years. This week Ivan had the opportunity to help him work on the current project. When Ivan and Abraham went to install a new gas line at Sta. Rosa, they took time to make an asado. After all, a man's gotta eat! The next few photos feature the baby quilts I finished this week. All the photos were taken on the same day but, believe me, they filled several of my days this week! I was working until late at night for three days running but I FINISHED 'EM! Here's the front of the quilts... ...and here's the backs. I backed the "envelope" quilt with fleece in a fun teddy bear print and the other in pink flannel with gold stars with a pieced panel featuring appliqued flowers. I just felt it needed a little extra pizzazz. Close-up of the envelope quilt so you can see how easy it is to slide small items into the envelopes. Close-up of the appliqued flower panel. Our co-workers had a garage sale this weekend. I think we were their first customers :-) I picked up a few things, including this big bag of buttons. I have a thing for buttons; you have no idea how happy these make me :-) After having a couple of weeks "off", I have a feeling it's going to be hard to buckle down and get back to work (i.e., Spanish). *sigh* But I sure have enjoyed it and feel pretty good about how much we were able to get done too.

Hope y'all have a great week and Sara, hope you start feeling better!

Those quilts turned out so great! Even the backs look good!
I love buttons too. I think part of it comes from the memories of playing with my Mom's stash of buttons as a kid.

those quilts are awesome!!! I really love the envelope one...wish I knew how to quilt!

my mom loved buttons too and she eventually put them all on a jacket! It is gorgeous and she gets stopped whenever she wears it...but it is heavy! :)

Those quilts are beautiful! My mother makes a lot of quilts, but I've never seen an envelope quilt - very unique!

Love the quilts!
Memories of stringing buttons...how many times did I go through Mother's collection as a child???
I am thrilled about the project Ivan was able to help with! Amazing how both your hobbies are becoming part of your new life purpose!

I love your photos...all of them.
The smoke is amazing. I hope the fires stop soon! We have a similar problem in TX at times; although it is raining today!
My husband's best friend builds planes for a hobby. He just finished one and my hubs spent many an hour at the hanger helping. Fun for these goofy men, huh?!
And the quilts!!! BEAUTIFUL!
Congrats on the button find.
Oh, and my kids liked the movie! Thanks for asking. More important though is they enjoyed one another. This is an answer to prayer!

BUTTONS! When we were at Cornerstone, I stumbled across some cute hair accessories made with buttons. I may use the idea for Christmas or birthday gifts. But it would be much easier if I had a huge bag of buttons!

There are so many creative things a person could do with an envelope quilt, like give one to a bride-to-be with recipes stuck inside, or a baby shower with doo-dads inserted, etc. Such wonderful, practical works of art.

I l.o.v.e. the crazy pink quilt. It just makes me smile!

Wow! I love buttons too. I remember spending hours sorting through buttons as a child. Their beautiful shapes and colors amazed me for some reason.

Wow...you've been busy! Do you use buttons on the quilts or are they for other projects?

Thanks so much for the craft idea. Very easy to do and it sounds like lots of fun...we'll get to it at some point.

The smoke cloud looks a lot like Dena's cloud picture...thats funny you both have it for this week.

I feel like a total stalker but I found this quilt on Flickr and came to your blog. The envelopes are amazing! How did you make them? Did you follow a pattern?
