It's 85° at 9:15 p.m. and you don't even want to know what it was at 3 p.m.

Ugh. I've done very little housework today because IT IS HARD TO MOVE THROUGH THE HEAT. Clothes dried on the line in literally minutes; in less than half an hour one load was bone dry.

I spent the late afternoon/early evening re-reading an old favorite, "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" by Jim Cymbala.

And drinking copious amounts of water in an effort to stay hydrated.

I hand sewed a couple of fabric coasters too.

Real productive, huh?

Days like this I want to hop in the car, drive to Walmart and wile away a few hours wandering up and down the air conditioned aisles. The fact that it's 30 miles to the closest Walmart is all that's stopping me.

Tonight I boiled pasta and made a quick alfredo sauce for supper. Threw in the leftover roasted garlic chicken from last night...when I had Ivan set up the toaster oven in the garage so I wouldn't have to heat up the kitchen while fixing the chicken.

Normally it cools down more at night but it's only been dropping into the high 60s the last few nights. The ten-day forecast is more of the same. At this rate I foresee a trip or two to the Walmart regardless of how far away it is. And indulging in an ice cream sundae from the McDonald's.

So what's your strategy for combating the heat of summer? Or is that concept too difficult to contemplate in the dead of your winter?

It's hard to imagine right now! We are in a warm trend too - it made 37 degrees today!
I think you just need to take it easy, keep reading and drinking!

Kim-

85! are you kidding me? We're having a heat wave. It reached a balmy 70 degrees here in my little patch of Texas. It was lovely. I spent the better part of the afternoon outside with the grandkids and hubby...
my little grandson (who will be 2 yrs.old next Monday) learned to say 'bird'. Yes! we were bird watching. They were everywhere.
like I said... lovely day.

I can't wait to get out and hang my laundry. We just had rain yesterday and are expecting cooler temps for the weekend. But a steady stream of heat would be nice... i love hanging laundry!

I know you are miserable in the heat and my "winter" is not that bad, but I would LOVE to be in summer!!! However, only with air conditioning!!

I cool off by jumping in the pool! I can't wait!!!

We had beautiful weather today in NW Louisiana, 70, but we are soon to get back to more seasonal temps of mid 50's daytime high...I LOVE warm weather, but I also love Air Conditioning...In your situation I think I would be spending a lot of time browsing through Walmart...or at the library. Thinking cool thoughts for you!

Second black-ice-day that closed schools; tomorrow may be another.
So, send some heat our way!
And some peaches while you're at it!

Thanks so very much for visiting my blog! I am loving this and I think there is no way to go back to scrapbooking!
I am so glad my family is weird. If we were normal, how boring would that be!
Sorry it is so hot there, but wow! I love the pictures from the sidewalk cafe. Great shots!

Are you sure that's water? Looks more like brandy to me...

One summer I was living in an un-air-conditioned apartment in downtown Indy, and it was really really hot out. Like, the radio stations were citing all these warnings and stuff. I spent a lot of time in the public library that summer. AC and books -- great combination!

I don't tolerate heat very well - my body temp has to be pretty high before I start sweating. And at my age I think this phenomenon is just going to get worse LOL. Fortunately for me I work in an air-conditioned office (in fact, I get cold most days!), have an air-conditioned car, & an air-conditioned house. Growing up in NC we didn't have air conditioning & sometimes I resent that I'm so dependent on it now...

We are having the same weather. But for us 85 is still cool.... 100´s are normal this time of year.
We cannot live without our AC´s, that ´s for sure. And we love going for a dip, our BIL has a pool. But I am so ready for winter!
